Weatherman predicts 2 days of snow, rain
Mughal Road closed for three days
SRINAGAR: The weather department on Sunday predicted snowfall on Tuesday and Wednesday in hilly areas and light scattered rainfall in plains of Kashmir Valley.
An official of the J&K Meteorological department told Kashmir Reader that the forecast of the two days shows that some areas may again come under rainfall and snowfall, but there is nothing to fear in the weather pattern.
“People don’t need to panic. The rainfall and snowfall will be the usual that Kashmir gets in November,” said the official.
Untimely snowfall last week wreaked havoc on orchards, power lines, and other sectors of the economy in Kashmir. People are queuing to buy woollens and busy making heating arrangements. Temperature has come down sharply since the spell of snow and rain.
According to the weatherman, Srinagar recorded 16 degrees Celsius day temperature on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the government has closed down Mughal Road for vehicular traffic for three days beginning November 12.
The closure of the road was ordered in wake of the weather department’s prediction of snowfall and rain from Monday.
The road, which is the surface link between Jammu’s Poonch and Rajouri to Kashmir Valley, was closed for traffic for more than a week after heavy snowfall triggered landslides last week
