Poonch, April 07 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir Forest department on Sunday registered a case under forest act after a Tata mobile loaded with smuggled wooden logs was seized on Mughal road.
Sources told KNO, a team of Forest department under the supervision of Range Officer Surankote, Nissar Hussain intercepted a vehicle on Mughal road and recovered six wooden logs of two separate plant species.
Sources added that the wooden logs were being smuggled to Poonch from Mughal Road forests but a team of forest department received an information and managed to foil the bid of smuggling.
A case undee FIR number 01/2019 of different sections of JK Forest Act has been registered by forest department and the vehicle involved in smuggling has been seized.
Officials told KNO that a detailed case report has been submitted to higher authorities while a process has also been started to confiscate the vehicle involved in the smuggling.
Officials said that forest department is also going to lodge a formal complaint against some people, including a senior official having police personal as his personal security official, who allegedly resisted the action of forest department.(KNO)
