Tral: Cricket players and fans alike will have a plate full of action with Khankah (Midoora) Stadium all set to host a ‘unique’ tournament late June.
The tournament, its main organiser says, will be ‘quite different’ from the ones held in Tral and Awantipora.
Arshad Khan, a sales representative in a pharmaceutical company, has finally realised his long pending wish to hold a cricket tournament in his native village to provide ‘ platform to young players so that they showcase their unhidden talent.’
From providing players with basic equipments to refreshment, Khan intends to introduce many a new thing in the tournament that he thinks will be beneficial for the players.
“If you see our area in particularand Tral in general we hardly get to see any cricket. There are no stadiums and infrastructure is second to none. Being a cricket enthusiast, it was in back of my mind to come up with a tourney. Before ramadhan we had a tournament in a nearby village which proved to be a decent attraction that prompted me to organise a tourney,” Khan says.
Khan is contemplating to bring in some top rated cricketers of the valley to encourage players.
“We will have commentary, match reports to be published in various news papers and give players with enough refreshment to make them play with passion and freedom,” he says.
The tournament will start from Sunday with 32 teams set to take part in it.
