6 years on, no water supply in Mahrajpora Sopore residents

Sopore: The residents of Mehrajpora Sopore in North Kashmir Baramulla district are up in arms against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department because of shortage of drinking water in the colony.

Folk of women told INS that they have to travel long distances to obtain drinking water. Women has to walk 1-2 kms daily for water for their daily chorus. As summers hitting he valley, now it’s very difficult to sustain in the same situation. People of this village are facing water shortage from last 6 years and it’s insane.Water is a primary need for any household, and the situation they are facing in pitiful.

A water supply scheme meant for the area is unable to cater to the needs, as area is located at tail end of the supply, they said.

The main reason behind this is negligence of administration, they set pipes for the drainage, but 7 more was needed and the work never got completed.

While talking to Exn PHE Sopore he said i brought it in our notice due to Shortage of Pipes we can not provide pipes.  He said within of couples of days will redress this issue. He adeed
